Job Description
As a Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing sample and reagent preparation, DNA extraction and isolation, and quality analysis prior to genotyping. You will engage in various molecular biology tasks and contribute to data generation for platform-specific technologies. This role involves utilizing liquid handling automation machines, multichannel pipettes, and electronic repeaters. You will generate and analyze initial data from various laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation while maintaining accurate records in laboratory notebooks, sample archives, and LIMS entries. Your insights will help improve laboratory efficiency, and you'll be responsible for calibrating instruments and troubleshooting as needed. Adherence to SOPs and supporting ISO procedures with quality standards is essential.
Responsibilities
Perform sample and reagent preparation.
Conduct DNA extraction and isolation.
Carry out quality analysis prior to genotyping.
Execute molecular biology tasks.
Generate data for platform-specific technologies.
Operate liquid handling automation machines, multichannel pipettes, and electronic repeaters.
Analyze initial data from laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and sample archives.
Provide input on laboratory efficiency improvements.
Calibrate instruments and troubleshoot as necessary.
Follow SOPs and support ISO procedures with quality standards.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and molecular biology.
Experience with DNA extraction and sample processing.
Knowledge of genotyping and laboratory techniques.
Familiarity with SOPs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, biology, or related sciences is required.
Laboratory experience preferred, particularly in molecular biology testing.
Candidates without a Bachelor's degree may be considered with 1+ years of lab experience.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
The laboratory environment is clean and well-equipped with new custom lab equipment. Enjoy a dynamic atmosphere with music and machines, where wearing headphones is encouraged. The lab offers flexibility, allowing you to engage in different tasks daily. Team collaboration is essential, and a passion for lab work is a must. The job includes 1 week of PTO and 6 paid holidays after 30 days of employment. The company operates in genomic research and data, supporting agriculture and livestock globally. Shift options include Monday to Friday, day and night shifts, and Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday, day shifts. Shifts are structured as either 5 days at 8 hours per day or 4 days at 10 hours per day.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
