Job Description
The Lab Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tasks including sample and reagent preparation, DNA extraction and isolation, quality analysis prior to genotyping, and other molecular biology tasks. The role involves data generation for platform-specific technologies, utilizing liquid handling automation machines, multichannel pipettes, and electronic repeaters. The technician will generate and analyze initial data from various laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation, maintain accurate records in laboratory notebooks, sample archives, and LIMS entries, and provide input on improvements to maximize laboratory efficiency. Calibrating instruments and performing troubleshooting when needed while following SOPs and supporting ISO procedures with quality standards are also key components of this role.
Responsibilities
Perform sample and reagent preparation
Conduct DNA extraction and isolation
Execute quality analysis prior to genotyping
Carry out molecular biology tasks
Generate data for platform-specific technologies
Operate liquid handling automation machines, multichannel pipettes, and electronic repeaters
Analyze data from various laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation
Maintain accurate records in laboratory notebooks, sample archives, and LIMS entries
Provide input on laboratory efficiency improvements
Calibrate instruments and perform troubleshooting as needed
Follow SOPs and support ISO procedures with quality standards
Essential Skills
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and molecular biology
Experience in DNA extraction and sample processing
Knowledge of genotyping and laboratory SOPs
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, biology, or related sciences is required
Previous laboratory experience is preferred, especially in molecular biology testing
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Consideration for candidates without a Bachelor's degree but with relevant experience
Work Environment
The role is based in a very clean and well-equipped laboratory featuring new custom lab equipment. The work environment is fast-paced with music and machines, allowing for headphone use to enhance focus. Shifts are flexible, with options for day and night shifts across various schedules: Monday to Friday (8-hour shifts), Sunday to Wednesday (10-hour shifts), and Wednesday to Saturday (10-hour shifts). Compensation is based on experience, with different rates for day and night shifts. The position offers 1 week of PTO and 6 paid holidays after 30 days of employment. Teamwork and enjoyment of lab work are essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr.
