Secondary Special Education Life Skills teaching position
JOB SUMMARY: To assist students in learning academic and life skills and in developing attitudes that will contribute to the fulfillment of their potential as mature, able and responsible citizens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cooperates with and involves other staff members in the educational process.
Shows interest in and concern for the total school program.
Exhibits dependability and punctuality in assigned duties, attendance at meetings and in the use and care of equipment and facilities.
Displays positive personal traits such as neatness, respect for others, self-control, and self-discipline as an appropriate model for students.
Abides by the Pennsylvania School Code and the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Upholds and enforces school rules, building and district administrative regulations and Board policy.
Maintains open lines of communication with administrators, parents, students and staff members.
Participates in curriculum review and redesign.
Strives to improve professional competence for the attainment of job goals.
Recognizes planned courses of study as the basic structural framework for the development of instructional programs and works toward the achievement of its goals.
Establishes clear objectives, techniques and assessment for all lessons, units and projects.
Develops, maintains and completes in a timely manner all required written records and reports.
Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies to attain lesson objectives.
Comprehensively diagnoses and evaluates student abilities and progress and identifies reasons why students meet or fail to meet instructional objectives.
Strives to meet student's educational needs through an understanding of and concern for each student.
QUALIFICATIONS: Hold appropriate Pennsylvania subject area instructional certificate
Ability to use, effectively communicate, and teach through use of the required software, including zoom, google suite, CAOLA vendor sites
Strong organizational skills, including time management
Ability to work as a team member and remain flexible in a changing environment
Receive the recommendation of the school principal
Ability to collect, analyze, and report on data measures of student and program success.
Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
Submission of Federal Criminal History Record in accordance with Act 114 of 2006
Submission of the Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form as required under Act 24 of 2011
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
Ability to walk, stand, or move throughout the work environment
