Aerotek Construction Laborer in Lexington, South Carolina

Construction Labor | 1st Shift | $16 - $18/hr

Job Description

This role involves performing physically demanding construction labor to support the replacement of water meters. You will primarily dig 2–3 foot holes using shovels and basic hand tools, working outdoors in various weather conditions to help keep municipal water systems operating efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Dig 2–3 foot holes manually to access and replace water meters.

  • Use shovels and basic hand tools safely and efficiently for excavation and related tasks.

  • Perform general construction labor duties as directed by the site supervisor.

  • Handle and operate basic power tools as needed for the project.

  • Assist with unloading materials, tools, and equipment at the job site.

  • Support concrete work and site preparation as required.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing debris and cleaning up at the end of each shift.

  • Perform heavy lifting and carry materials, tools, and equipment around the site.

  • Assist with landscaping-related tasks associated with trenching and site restoration.

  • Use a tape measure accurately for layout, depth checks, and verification of measurements.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective equipment while working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Collaborate with crew members and follow instructions to complete daily work assignments on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to perform physically demanding manual labor for extended periods.

  • Experience with general construction or general labor work.

  • Ability to dig holes manually using shovels and basic hand tools.

  • Comfort working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and environmental elements.

  • Capability to perform heavy lifting and carry materials safely.

  • Basic proficiency with hand tools such as shovels, picks, and wrenches.

  • Ability to use a tape measure accurately for basic measurements.

  • Reliability in adhering to scheduled work hours and project timelines.

  • Commitment to following safety procedures and instructions on an active job site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with power tools commonly used in construction environments.

  • Experience in concrete work, solar projects, or landscaping is beneficial.

  • Prior experience working on municipal or utility-related projects is an advantage.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a crew and take direction from site leadership.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to perform a variety of labor tasks as needed.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, field-based role working approximately 40 hours per week on a schedule of four 10-hour days, typically Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Heavy rain or weather-related delays during the week may require work on Friday to maintain project timelines. The project is expected to last about one month. Work takes place entirely outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, sun, wind, and light rain. The environment is physically demanding, involving frequent walking, bending, kneeling, digging, and heavy lifting. You will regularly use shovels, basic hand tools, tape measures, and may use power tools and equipment related to concrete work, solar, and landscaping tasks. Appropriate work attire suitable for outdoor construction, along with any required personal protective equipment, is expected.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
