StraCon Services Group (StraCon) is seeking a is seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Payroll and Benefits Specialist to support and enhance our human resources, accounting, payroll, and operational functions. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with hands-on experience in HR administration, benefits support, payroll coordination, compliance, audit preparation, timesheet/expense oversight, and cross-functional collaboration within a government contracting environment. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and proven experience supporting HRIS, compliance, payroll, and audit readiness for a multi-state employer. The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will also be responsible for but not limited to the following.

  • Payroll Processing
    • Process semi-monthly payroll in coordination with HR and accounting teams, ensuring accurate wage calculations, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions across multiple states.
    • Maintain awareness of multi-state payroll regulations, state-specific tax rules, and required employment documentation.
    • Audit payroll data to identify discrepancies and coordinate corrections with appropriate stakeholders.
    • Maintain payroll records and support payroll-related compliance requirements.
    • Monitor PTO, leave balances, and applicable state leave requirements (e.g., paid sick leave laws).

``` - HR Operations and Employee Support - Support benefits administration including communication, enrollment assistance, and coordination with benefit vendors. - Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and ensure accurate payroll benefit deductions. - Maintain and update employee records, SharePoint sites, and internal databases to ensure accuracy and accessibility. - Assist with company event planning and execution as required.

``` - Accounting and Administrative Coordination - Support accounting department with Quarterly 941 reconciliation to payroll records and fringe benefit reconciliation. - Review and audit timesheets for accuracy, compliance, and required approvals in accordance with company policies and government requirements. - Assist in maintaining documentation for fringe cost allocations and benefit billing accuracy.

``` - Compliance and Audit Support - Maintain and update SCA wage determination schedules and fringe administration mapping. - Maintain awareness of multi-state labor laws, wage requirements, paid leave mandates, and reporting obligations. - Assist with preparation and documentation for internal and external audits (including DCAA), ensuring timely and accurate submission of required materials. - Support compliance reporting in partnership with HR and accounting.

``` - Collaboration and Leadership - Work directly with the VP of Human Resources to contribute to strategic HR initiatives. - Act as a liaison between HR and other departments regarding compensation and benefits matters.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP certification (earned or in-progress)
