Some evenings and weekends are possible.Job SummaryThe laboratory of Nicolas Grillet is recruiting a laboratory technician to work on the molecular genetics of age-related hearing loss (https://www.grilletlab.com/). The Grillet lab has generated a mouse model carrying a polymorphism identified in Genome Wide Association Studies that increases the risk of age-related hearing loss in humans. The project consists of determining whether this polymorphism is causal by analyzing the potential association with age-related hearing loss and whether it sensitizes hearing to noise-induced damage.The Grillet lab has expertise in molecular and cellular aspects of hair cell function, fluorescence microscopy, electron microscopy, mouse genetics, and electrophysiology (Wang et al., 2024, Nature Communications; Miller et al., 2024, Nature Communications).The candidate will perform hearing tests (auditory brainstem recordings and distortion products of otoacoustic emissions), noise exposure assessments, dissection, histology, immunostaining, scanning electron microscopy, quantification, molecular cloning, biochemistry assays, and data analysis.
