We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Feedlot Cattle Manager to oversee daily feedlot operations and ensure the health, performance, and efficient finishing of cattle. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on livestock experience, and the ability to manage both people and cattle in a fast-paced agricultural environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cattle management, pen riding, and finishing programs, along with the ability to effectively communicate with team members, veterinarians, and owners.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Conduct daily pen riding to monitor cattle health, behavior, and performance
- Identify and pull sick or injured cattle and coordinate treatment protocols
- Oversee cattle finishing programs to ensure optimal performance and market readiness
- Provide operational leadership for feedlot staff and daily workflow
- Maintain accurate health and treatment records using livestock health management software
- Coordinate with veterinarians and nutritionists regarding herd health and feeding programs
- Monitor cattle condition, feed intake, and overall pen performance
- Ensure proper animal welfare practices and adherence to industry standards
- Communicate clearly with team members and ownership regarding cattle health, performance, and operational needs
Job Requirements:
- Must own and be able to ride a horse proficiently for daily pen riding
- Ability to understand and utilize cattle health management software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Commitment to animal welfare and safe livestock handling practices
