Job Order: HR-JD-1034 REV: C Position: Set Up Mechanic - Utility & Coating Department: Utility Reports to: Coating Supervisor / Maintenance & Facilities Manager Pay: Per Union Schedule A Status: Full-time; shift coverage including 24-hour period, weekends, holidays as needed Location: Leominster, MA POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled duties to monitor and maintain the coating system and service/repair mechanical equipment; supports production by maintaining ovens, wash/coating tanks, make-up units and related systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -Maintain and service ovens, wash tanks, coating tanks and make-up units. -Test coatings with lab moisture analyzer to verify compliance with Technical Data Sheets. -Safely handle and utilize solvents and other hazardous materials; follow hazmat procedures. -Perform daily maintenance on equipment including AC units and RO system. -Assist in equipment upgrades, installations and repairs (pumps, gears, mechanical drive systems). -Start up Thermal & UV Cure Room as needed. -Organize and prepare hazmat shipment paperwork; maintain hazmat awareness/certification. -Maintain maintenance/upkeep records and daily Process Documentation logs. -Process purchase orders for coatings, clean room supplies and hazmat pick-ups as required. -Cross-train in wash & coating room operations; instruct/train other personnel. -Schedule and coordinate backup/set-up personnel and projects. -Report unsafe equipment or injuries immediately; maintain open communication with supervisors. -Follow safety rules and regulations, including lock-out/tag-out procedures; wear required PPE. OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional related duties as assigned to support production continuity. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: -High school diploma or trade school equivalent. -Minimum 1 year mechanical field experience preferred. -Ability to read, write and speak English; follow oral and written instructions. -Familiarity with mechanical/electrical equipment, instruments and tools; schematic-reading a plus. -Hazmat awareness certification or ability to obtain. -Ability to obtain fork truck license/certification. -Positive attitude, satisfactory work history, reliable attendance, team player. PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS: -Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; bend, stoop, climb stairs/ladders and stand for extended periods. -Able to work around open machinery and industrial chemicals; no known allergies to common industrial chemicals. -May be required to work in seasonal hot/cold conditions; wear PPE and use respirator when required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to service heavy and light equipment. Must wear personal protective equipment where posted or required.
