Job Description

This role focuses on installing plumbing systems for large custom modular buildings, including schools, hospitals, banks, restaurants, and offices. You will work as part of a skilled in-house team of plumbers, electricians, carpenters, welders, and laborers to build each modular unit from start to finish, following detailed blueprints and ensuring high-quality, code-compliant installations.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow blueprints and plumbing schematics to complete plumbing installations for modular building units.

  • Install and assemble PVC, PEX, copper, and cast iron piping for commercial plumbing systems.

  • Run and secure hangers and supports for various types of pipe to ensure proper alignment and stability.

  • Work on mains, drains, and vent systems, ensuring correct layout, slope, and connection of all piping.

  • Install plumbing fixtures and finishes, such as sinks, toilets, faucets, and related trim, according to specifications.

  • Perform soldering and related pipe-joining techniques as needed for copper and other piping materials.

  • Collaborate with carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical trades to coordinate installations within modular units.

  • Assist in the assembly and connection of piping systems as modular structures are put together on site or at project finish locations.

  • Use appropriate hand tools and trade tools safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the shop, hanger, or yard while adhering to safety standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic plumbing issues during the build process to ensure proper system performance.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on plumbing experience with PVC, PEX, copper, and cast iron piping.

  • Experience with commercial pipe installation for large-scale or modular construction projects.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plumbing drawings.

  • Experience working on mains, drains, and fixture installations in a construction environment.

  • Proficiency in hanging and supporting pipe using appropriate hangers and hardware.

  • Capability to install plumbing fixtures and finishes to specification.

  • General mechanical aptitude and familiarity with piping and installation practices.

  • Experience in commercial construction or large-scale projects; residential plumbing experience is also acceptable.

  • Ability to use standard plumbing hand tools and trade tools safely and effectively.

  • 1 or more years of plumbing experience, with pay and expectations scaled by skill level and years of experience.

  • Strong understanding of basic construction safety practices.

Why Work Here?

  • The organization supports long-term growth with a structured approach to compensation based on experience and skill level, rewarding those who expand their capabilities.

  • You benefit from a comprehensive benefits package that includes a 401(k) plan with company match, medical and dental insurance, life insurance, paid time off, referral bonuses, and an end-of-year holiday bonus.

  • A culture of appreciation and team spirit is reinforced through company picnics and events, offering opportunities to connect with coworkers beyond daily project work.

Work Environment

Work primarily takes place at a dedicated modular construction site, either inside a hanger or in the yard once buildings are roughed in. The environment is a hands-on, construction-focused setting where plumbers collaborate closely with electricians, carpenters, welders, HVAC technicians, and laborers to assemble modular units. Most work is performed at a single site, with occasional travel only if selected to go to a project finish location to help assemble the completed structure. The role involves using standard plumbing hand tools and equipment, working around active construction activities, and adapting to both indoor and outdoor conditions depending on the stage of the build.
