Flexographic Printing Press Operator

Location: Lenexa, KS

Shift: 12‑Hour Night Shift (7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.)

Schedule: Alternating weekly rotation - start night indicated below

  • Week 1: Sunday-Monday-Tuesday

  • Week 2: Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday

  • Week 3: Sunday-Monday – Wednesday–Thursday

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Press Operator to join our flexible packaging manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for independently preparing, operating, and maintaining high‑speed printing press equipment to produce quality‑printed film products. This position plays a critical role in ensuring production efficiency, product quality, food safety compliance, and workplace safety in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare the press and all job components, including anilox rolls, ink, film, and plates

  • Read and interpret job specification sheets to determine color and print requirements

  • Adjust and fine‑tune anilox rolls, plates, and ink flow to ensure proper ink application

  • Measure and verify print quality to ensure jobs meet specifications

  • Check UPC codes for accuracy

  • Monitor ink color using X‑Rite equipment and collaborate with Ink Technicians to make adjustments

  • Make ink changes during production as needed

  • Inspect film for blots, defects, and printing errors; stop the machine when issues occur

  • Cut rolls down to usable film when film or roll issues arise

  • Remove finished film from the press and safely load pallets for pickup

  • Cut, label, and maintain required samples and scrap

  • Identify machine issues, document breakdowns, and perform preventative maintenance

  • Understand and manage proper film tension during printing

  • Manage and handle hazardous and universal waste in compliance with environmental and safety requirements

  • Complete required DOT Haz‑Mat and hazardous waste training

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs

  • Perform cleaning and inspection duties to maintain food safety standards

  • Follow all safety guidelines, wear required PPE, and meet OSHA requirements

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

  • Complete rework tasks as needed

What You Have to Offer

  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications and measurements

  • Working knowledge of printing press operations and color management preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards

  • Ability to identify printing defects and take corrective action

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic preventative maintenance

  • Basic math, reading, writing, and computer skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks throughout the shift

  • Ability to exert up to 50–100 pounds occasionally and lesser force frequently

  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to compliance

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions, including stopping the press when needed

  • Manufacturing or printing experience preferred
