Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist operates a variety of machine tools to produce precision metal parts in both small and large quantities. This role sets up and runs CNC and manual equipment, interprets blueprints, and ensures all parts meet exact specifications while maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.
Responsibilities
Operate machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC mills to produce precision metal parts.
Review and interpret electronic and written blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, and required finishes.
Use measuring devices to calculate where to cut, bore, or drill on the workpiece.
Position and secure the workpiece accurately in preparation for machining operations.
Determine appropriate feed rates and speeds for machining operations based on material and tooling.
Determine the amount of material to remove to achieve final dimensions and tolerances.
Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
Plan the sequence of cutting, drilling, and finishing operations to optimize quality and efficiency.
Change out tooling, blades, and inserts as needed during production.
Perform basic CNC setup and adjustments to ensure machines run correctly.
Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality.
Perform basic program edits on CNC machines when required to improve accuracy or efficiency.
Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications.
Collaborate with team members in welding, machining, assembly, packing, and shipping as needed.
Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment in the manufacturing shop.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3+ years of CNC machining experience.
Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and related CNC machining equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
Experience with machine operation, including drill presses, shears, and CNC lathes.
CNC setup experience sufficient to prepare machines for production.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency with measuring devices to calculate cuts, bores, and material removal.
Ability to plan and execute sequences of cutting and finishing operations.
Capability to change tooling and adjust machines during production.
Commitment to safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Preferably a 2-year vocational degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field.
Mill machining experience; experience with lathes is a plus.
Experience editing CNC programs is a plus.
Welding experience is preferred and considered an asset.
Experience working in a manufacturing shop environment with welding, machining, assembly, packing, and shipping.
Ability to work flexible hours, including extended shifts and some Saturdays, as needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing shop that includes welding, machining, assembly, packing, and shipping operations. The facility is non-climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. Required personal protective equipment includes steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, and jeans or similar durable workwear. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and you must be flexible to work additional hours within the typical operating window of 5:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as some Saturdays as needed to meet production demands.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
