PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL WESTMD(GB) Substitute Teacher Head Start in Lemont Furnace, Pennsylvania
The Head Start Instructor provides instruction, guidance, and support to preschool children in the classroom, preparing them for success in school and beyond. This role includes planning and delivering developmentally appropriate lessons, fostering positive social and emotional growth, and engaging families as partners in their child's education. The Teacher also works closely with staff and community agencies to ensure that children and families receive comprehensive services that promote well-being and readiness for kindergarten.
What You'll Do:
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities that support children's growth across all learning domains.
Observe, assess, and document children's progress, sharing results with parents and staff.
Support children with special needs and participate in IEP meetings.
Promote health, nutrition, and safety practices within the classroom and during mealtimes.
Conduct home visits and conferences to engage families in their child's learning.
Collaborate with team members, volunteers, and community partners to enhance learning opportunities.
Assist families with referrals, resources, and crisis intervention when needed.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Head Start performance standards.
What You Bring: Education: Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education, OR a Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education.
Experience: One (1) year classroom experience with pre-school children. Knowledge of social service agencies in Fayette County desirable.
OR
Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, child development or a related field with equivalent course work. Experience: Preferred two (2) years of classroom experience with pre-school children. Knowledge of social service agencies in Fayette County desirable.
