Job Information
IBM Z/os Security Software Developer in Leiden, Netherlands
Introduction
Within our software lab in Delft, the Netherlands, we currently have a vacancy for an experienced Z Security Software Developer.
Working at IBM is more than a job - it's a calling: To build. To design. To code. To consult. To think along with clients and sell. To make markets. To invent. To collaborate. Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you've never thought possible. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world's most challenging problems? If so, let's talk.
The zSecure development team is located in Delft, The Netherlands. Within our team we are developing the IBM zSecure portfolio, which adds layers of security assurance—including audits, alerts, administration, reporting and authentication—that enhance the security and risk management in IBM Z hardware, software, virtualization and standard external security managers (ESMs) such as IBM RACF, CA ACF2 and CA Top Secret.
zSecure automates security administrative tasks to help increase efficiency and reduce errors, detects internal and external threats, issues near-real-time alert, and monitors compliance.
We are not only adding technological enhancements on the Z Operating System but also expanding to new web-based capabilities next to the traditional ISPF environment, enabling clients to run from a mixed on-prem/cloud environment. Our expertise and software capabilities help organizations implement automated compliance, enabling clients to integrate security across the breadth of their IT estate, and we not only provide audit and alert for management visibility, we also support organizations with their implementation of their security philosophy. With IBM, you also have access to new skills and methods, governance and management approaches, and a deep ecosystem of industry experts and partners.
Your role and responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Z Security Software Developer that has Z assembler skills and programming experience. As our software will exploit z/OS and z/VM operating system features and is interwoven with multiple z/OS security software products such as RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret, being familiar with such an environment is mandatory. In addition, we also support multiple subsystems like CICS, IMS, DB/2 and MQ and send security related data to external products like QRadar and ArcSight.
As a software developer you will be part of a development team that executes the tasks required to fully develop and test an IBM security product to ensure it functions according to specifications and client requirements, and will also meet the business needs.
You will gain an in-depth knowledge of the logical function(s) that you will become responsible for. A fundamental knowledge of the overall solution is therefore also required. Good knowledge of the target market that is covered by our products and a good understanding of the client environment is considered to be an important added value.
The development activities cover all aspects of the product. This includes design, building and testing but also performing code reviews and giving demos of the built solution. As a developer you will be working closely together with the tester and in collaboration develop specific test scenarios.
Based on the requirements and the design you should be able to build the required functionality, define or help define the testing criteria and develop test cases/scenarios/use cases. You can occasionally be asked to test software developed by one of the other team members and/or execute the required tests.
We are using key components of the Agile development cycle and as a developer you need to provide feedback on usability, serviceability and documentation and report the current status to the appropriate audience working closely together with other team members. Our backlog planning can start on an epic level and will be broken into stories that can be executed during fixed length sprints.
As both our software and the z platform, are considered to be highly complex, the will to succeed, a strong personal drive and the ability to think analytically above average, are considered to be very important personal abilities.
