Job Purpose: - The Assistant Camp Director at YWCA Central Massachusetts Inc is responsible for supporting the Camp Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the camp. This seasonal position involves ensuring a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff, while fostering a positive community atmosphere. The role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to the mission of the YWCA. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of camp programs and activities, ensuring they align with the YWCA's mission and values. - Supervise and support camp staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure high-quality program delivery. - Monitor camper safety and well-being, implementing safety protocols and responding to emergencies as needed. - Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, addressing inquiries and concerns in a professional manner. - Collaborate with the Camp Director to manage camp logistics, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget oversight. - Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment, promoting teamwork, respect, and personal growth among campers and staff. - Assist in the evaluation of camp programs and staff performance, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Required Education: - Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Required Experience: - Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a camp setting or similar environment. - Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably within a youth-focused organization. - Proven track record of organizing and implementing successful programs and activities for children and adolescents. Required Skills and Abilities: - Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with campers, parents, and staff. - Ability to plan, organize, and execute camp activities and events. - Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle emergencies or conflicts calmly and efficiently. - Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a camp environment. - Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and foster an inclusive environment. - Proficiency in basic computer applications and record-keeping.
