CPS Control Panel Manager in Lehighton, Pennsylvania

Control Panel Fabricator / Panel Builder

About This Position:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Control Panel Manager to join our UL 508A-certified shop. In this hands-on role, you will build high-quality industrial control panels from the ground up - fabricating enclosures, mounting components, and performing precise point-to-point wiring - all while ensuring every panel meets strict UL 508A standards for safety, inspection, and reliability.

Our panels power critical automation systems in heavy industrial, and manufacturing environments, so your work directly impacts customer success and safety in the field. We value craftsmanship: panels must be clean, logically laid out, properly labeled, and error-free to pass UL audits and perform flawlessly on-site.

Experience and Background:

2-5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical panel building, control panel assembly, or industrial wiring.

Prior work in a UL 508A-certified shop or with UL-compliant panels is a big plus - especially familiarity with applying UL labels and successfully passing inspections.

Proven experience fabricating enclosures (cutting, drilling, mounting DIN rails, backplates, wire duct) and wiring point-to-point (terminals, PLCs, relays, VFDs, etc.).

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOM) - essential for accurate assembly.

Strong electrical knowledge: Wiring methods (proper stripping, ferruling, routing, bundling), component mounting, and use of UL-listed/recognized parts.

Mechanical fabrication skills: Using tools like drills, punches, saws, grinders, and pneumatic tools for enclosure modifications.

Ability to perform basic troubleshooting, continuity testing, and functional checks on completed panels.

Solid understanding of key UL 508A elements: Proper spacing, grounding, overcurrent protection, SCCR considerations, and neat/clean wiring for inspection.

Soft Skills and Attributes:

Extreme attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality - panels must be neat, clearly labeled, and error-free to pass UL audits and field inspections.

Reliability and strong work ethic: Ability to work independently, follow procedures precisely, and maintain accurate documentation.

Safety-conscious mindset: Knowledge of electrical safety practices and strict adherence to shop protocols.

Education and Certifications:

High school diploma preferred: vocational/technical training, associate degree in electrical/electronic technology, or related field.

Certifications like Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) or specific UL 508A training are bonuses but not always required for builder roles.

Other Practical Considerations:

Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift components (up to 50 lbs), and work in a shop environment.

Previous folk lift and pallet jack experience is a plus.

Basic computer skills for referencing drawings or logging work.

References or portfolio/photos of past panel work can help verify quality.
