Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instructor
Location: Heber, UT
Status: Full-Time
Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Pay/Salary: $59,000 –$65,000

This position will be trained at our Lehi campus, fill a short-term vacancy in Lehi, and then teach at the new MTECH Heber campus. Classes run all year long.

What You'll Do:
Responsibilities of the Commercial Driver's License Instructor include, but are not limited to:
Provide hands-on, safe, and practical instruction in both range and road settings to support student learning.
Prepare students with the technical knowledge and professional demeanor required for a successful career in commercial driving.
Evaluate student performance and progress, ensuring mastery of core skills, safety practices, and job readiness.
Support student growth through feedback, encouragement, and skill development.
Demonstrate and model a strong work ethic, professionalism, and safe driving practices.
Guide students in the proper use and maintenance of program vehicles and equipment.
Take the initiative to perform additional tasks that support students' success and the program's success.
What We're Looking For:
Education Requirements: A high school diploma or GED.
Experience: A minimum of two years of verifiable Class-A driving experience, including over-the-road (OTR) or local routes.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).
Licensing Requirements: Must possess a valid, non-restricted Class-A CDL license and have experience with tractor-trailers and manual transmission. Must be able and willing to obtain an instructor license through a state-approved agency.
Compliance Standards: Must be able to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
Organizational Abilities: Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, multitask, and stay organized in a dynamic training environment.
Attention to Detail: Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail, especially when evaluating student performance and ensuring safety protocols.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Clear, respectful communication and a passion for mentoring and guiding adult learners toward success.
