Armed Security Guard, PT

Location: Lehi, UT

Status: Part-time

Hours: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 p.m. –10 :00 p.m.

Pay/Salary: $18.00–$20.00/Hour (DOE)

Summary

As an Armed Security Guard, you will help maintain a safe and welcoming campus environment by patrolling assigned areas, monitoring for unusual or unauthorized activity, and responding to safety concerns. Serve as a visible and approachable security presence for students, employees, and visitors. Perform a range of security and safety-related duties while upholding college policies, procedures, and applicable laws to protect people, property, and the integrity of the campus community.

    What You'll Do:

    Responsibilities of the Armed Security Guard include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Security & Risk Manager in maintaining the safety and security of campus property, facilities, and occupants.

  • Patrol assigned areas to monitor for hazards, unauthorized activity, and security breaches.

  • Maintain a visible security presence to promote a safe campus environment.

  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and requests for assistance.

  • Monitor and control the entry and exit of employees, students, and visitors in accordance with established procedures.

  • Identify, investigate, and address suspicious behavior or violations of campus policies, regulations, or laws.

  • Monitor campus property through patrols and electronic surveillance systems.

  • Conduct exterior property checks to identify maintenance issues, malfunctions, or safety hazards.

  • Communicate effectively with campus personnel and local authorities regarding security or emergency situations.

  • Prepare accurate reports documenting activities, observations, and incidents.

  • Implement established emergency response procedures when necessary.

  • Promote safe practices and perform other related duties as assigned.

    What We're Looking For:

  • Education Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Experience: Basic knowledge of security operations, safety practices, and enforcement procedures is preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate sound judgment in security-related situations.

  • Technical & Operational Skills: Familiarity with safety equipment and security procedures. Must possess a valid Utah driver's license with an acceptable driving record and successfully pass a criminal background check.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform foot patrols and lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong professional demeanor and effective communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with students, employees, visitors, and local officials. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Problem-Solving & Professional Judgment: Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, including diplomacy, cooperative problem-solving, and the ability to respond calmly and appropriately in a variety of situations.
