Actalent Lab Technician in Leesburg, Florida

The Lab Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products through rigorous quality assurance practices. This role involves performing daily quality assurance checks on finished products and shipped goods, managing product retainers, verifying production logs, and assisting in the establishment of quality standards. The position requires adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Responsibilities
Perform daily QA checks on finished products and shipped goods before loading.
Ensure samples are obtained for required testing and manage product retainers.
Verify completeness of daily production logs and ensure work aligns with SOPs and cGMP.
Assist in establishing quality standards and perform preventive maintenance on QA equipment.
Calibrate scales, perform weight checks every 30 minutes, and conduct X-ray checks every hour.
Navigate batch records and execute quality assurance goals and objectives.
Collaborate with management to improve quality compliance and facilitate quality meetings.
Review certificates of analysis and raw criteria for batch records.
QA pallet shipments and update house labels for products.
Ensure quality of inbound raw materials and finished goods to specifications.
Conduct sensory, organoleptic, allergen, and environmental testing.
Send out products and raw materials to third-party labs and obtain air and water samples.
Work with auditing bodies such as Kosher/Halal/Organic.
Perform other quality duties as requested.
Essential Skills
At least one year of experience in QA, preferably in Food and Beverage.
Experience with Batch Records and manual/computer documentation.
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers.
Working knowledge of PC, Microsoft Office, and Internet.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
A degree and management experience are a plus.
Good attendance, personal hygiene, and communication skills.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to lead and manage others with understanding of equipment setup and breakdown.
Industry experience in food processing or manufacturing is preferred.
Work Environment
The work takes place in a manufacturing environment where supplements are tested, produced, manufactured, and shipped. The setting can be chaotic, requiring comfort with change and fast-paced work. The position involves working behind a computer for extended periods and may require operating machinery.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leesburg, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
