Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshoots equipment issues, and completes repairs to reduce downtime and support consistent production. This role works closely with production and other team members to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective, safe solutions while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure safe and optimal performance.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on a variety of systems, including pneumatic and mechanical systems.

  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, including working with PLC controls, three-phase power, wiring, and schematic interpretation.

  • Utilize common hand and power tools effectively to complete maintenance tasks and repairs.

  • Troubleshoot and restart drives and assist with basic diagnosing of Allen-Bradley PLC controllers as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.

  • Collaborate with production teams to plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize disruption to operations.

  • Follow and promote safety regulations and best practices in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and recommending long-term solutions.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance repair techniques.

  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools used for maintenance and repair.

  • Ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting, including working with PLC controls, three-phase power, wiring, and reading schematics.

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs or more on a regular basis.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair pneumatic and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to work safely and follow established safety procedures in an industrial setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical certification in maintenance, industrial technology, or a related field.

  • Experience with pneumatic systems, including advanced troubleshooting and repair.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and the ability to distinguish between pneumatic and hydraulic applications.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with electrical systems, including three-phase power, wiring, and schematic interpretation.

  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting and basic diagnosing of Allen-Bradley PLC controllers.

  • Experience pulling wire and restarting drives.

  • Comfort working with automated and control systems in an industrial setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment that focuses on high-purity metal recycling and sortation using advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, image and data analytics, and specialized sensors. The setting involves working around heavy machinery, mechanical and electrical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and PLC-controlled processes. You can expect a hands-on, shop-floor environment with regular use of hand and power tools, exposure to production noise, and adherence to strict safety procedures and protective equipment requirements. Work hours follow typical industrial manufacturing schedules, with maintenance activities coordinated around production needs to minimize downtime.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lebanon, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.
