Erie Shores Healthcare DI Extern in Leamington, Ontario

DI Extern

Applications are now being accepted for Temporary Part Time DI Extern to work in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. The successful applicant will have a commitment of 37.5 hours per pay period to this position and will be required to work days Monday-Sunday including holidays. Please note, this is a temporary position scheduled to end upon graduation.

Externs will be hired on contract, during which the Extern will work part time hours to a maximum of full-time hours (37.5 hours per week). Hours of work are 12-hour day shifts, 0700-1900, and night shifts, 1900-0700, including weekends and holidays. Flexible shifts are also available in 10, 8, and 6 hours shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Assist nursing staff in delivering patient care, including

  • Monitoring and reporting vitals (under supervision where applicable).

  • Assisting patients with mobility and positioning.

  • Supporting personal hygiene and comfort measures.

  • Recognizing and communicating changes in patient condition to the supervising.

Patient and Environmental Safety

  • Maintain a clean, tidy and hazard free environment for patients.

  • Restock and organize patient care areas to ensure readiness for care delivery.

Team Collaboration

  • Actively participate in the interdisciplinary team to support seamless care delivery.

Documentation Assistance

  • Accurately document care activities under supervision and within the scope of practice.

Compliance and Professional Standards

  • Follow CNO guidelines for unregulated care providers.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in year two or higher of an undergraduate or diploma nursing program approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (proof of enrollment required).

  • Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Preferred Assets:

  • Completion of a recent clinical placement in an acute care area preferred.

  • Demonstrated infection prevention and control practices.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
