Lawrenceville Borough Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania
Position Summary: The Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and upkeep of the Borough's water and sewer plants. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while also collaborating with Borough Council, the Water/Sewer Operator, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and other outside contractors or agencies. Training will be provided as needed.
Hours: This will be discussed at the interview (Monday--Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm)
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and ensure proper operation of both water and sewer plants.
- Monitor and measure chemical levels; perform daily/weekly sampling and testing.
- Perform plumbing tasks, including pipe replacements and water meter repairs/replacements.
- Conduct hydrant flushing, maintenance, and repair.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as a backhoe, when needed.
- Perform cleaning and general upkeep to maintain a safe, organized, and functional work environment.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with Council, operators, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
- Carry out other duties as assigned, including additional responsibilities as training progresses.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Relevant life or work experience strongly valued.
- Certifications, trade/technical training, or college coursework in water/sewer systems a plus.
- Willingness to learn and participate in training.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Knowledge of plumbing, mechanics, and/or equipment operation preferred.
Rate of Pay: Rate will be discussed and set by Borough Council based on experience, education, and qualifications.
