Job Title: Construction Materials Technician Job Description

The Construction Materials Technician will be primarily responsible for performing field inspections and observations for commercial construction projects. This role involves counting pile driving and will ensure quality assurance for concrete and soil across various projects. Full training will be provided for the use of necessary equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Transport equipment, specimens, or documents to field personnel, clients, or other offices, and provide physical assistance in equipment set-up.

  • Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities, observations, and results.

  • Observe proof rolls, undercut operations, perform footing inspections with dynamic cone penetrometer, and inspect rebar.

  • Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications.

  • Conduct field inspections and quality assurance for concrete and soil across various projects, including data centers, restaurants, landscaping, and apartment complexes.

  • Perform concrete sampling and tests (air content, temperature, slump) to ensure quality standards.

  • Conduct soil tests for compaction and water density, and observe proof rolls for roads, building pads, and parking lots to prevent subgrade issues.

  • Monitor the placement of MSE walls and perform soil density testing to verify structural integrity.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction, preferably on the civil side.

  • Ability to conduct field inspections and quality assurance for concrete and soil.

  • Proficiency in performing concrete sampling and tests, and conducting soil tests.

  • Construction inspection and soil testing expertise.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • ACI or ICC certifications would be a plus.

Work Environment

Expect to spend 90% of the time in the field with typical work weeks ranging from 50-70 hours, Monday through Saturday. Soil work begins at 7 AM, while concrete work starts at 8 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LAWRENCEVILLE, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
