Lawrence General Hospital Mammography Technologist in Lawrence, Massachusetts

Merrimack Health is currently offering a sign-on bonus for Mammography Technologist roles, with the amount depending on scheduled hours. Full-time positions are eligible for a $20,000 bonus.

At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $44.57 (Min) — $66.86 hourly (Max), excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.

Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.

As the Mammography Technologist, you will provide radiological care to patients undergoing screening and diagnostic mammography examination. Ensures the department consistently produces high quality mammographic exams and procedures to aid in medical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Works closely with physicians and RNs to ensure the department operates within compliance with regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all routine mammograms, demonstrating the anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and technique selection, according to department policy and procedure.

  • Receives a consultation request, checks for special instructions from the requesting physician, consults with the radiologist as necessary.

  • Pleasantly greet patients, confirming their identification and introducing yourself.

  • Explains the examination procedure completely to the patient and their family if present.

  • Completes the history form with accuracy on all patients.

  • Evaluates every film for technical quality, proper positioning, patient identification, stamp and right and left markers.

  • Updates patient exam file, records unusual conditions or limitations, documents film usage. Performs other paperwork as applicable.

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and special skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in mammography (adult and geriatric).

  • Assists with retrieving and coordinating films needed for biopsy procedures.

  • Assists with needle localization and stereotactic procedures, always practicing aseptic techniques.

  • Telephone or fax results when requested with no more than two omissions annually.

  • In the absence of film room staff, prepare the patients' jackets with the proper bar code labels and, if necessary, perform loaning procedures.

  • Receives and / or initiates no more than five two-minute phone calls per week.

  • Promotes a professional image by adhering to the established dress code.

  • Demonstrates cost-effectiveness in the use of supplies and equipment by minimal wastage of supplies. Notifies supervisor when supplies are at low levels.

Required:

  • A Massachusetts Mammography license and ARRT is required.

  • Proficiency in all areas of mammography and quality assurance testing of mammographic equipment.
