Jacobs Facilities Instrumentation Engineering Owner’s Representative in Lawrence, Kansas
We’re looking for a Facilities Instrumentation Engineering Owner’s Representative to play a key role in delivering cutting‑edge semiconductor manufacturing projects in Boise, ID. This is a high‑impact opportunity to work at the heart of advanced manufacturing, partnering with a multidisciplinary team and key stakeholders in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment.
In this role, you’ll act as the technical owner and advocate for Instrumentation and Controls scope during the Tool Installation phase of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. You’ll provide engineering and design oversight for final hookups—including fire alarm, chemical controls system, toxic gas monitoring (TGM) system and associated programmable logic controllers (PLCs) — while helping guide technical decisions in one of the most advanced industrial facilities in the world.
What You’ll Do:
Provide engineering and design oversight during installation of semiconductor manufacturing tools.
Review and influence instrumentation and controls designs related to factory control systems, fire alarms, chemical controls, and TGM systems.
Develop and review technical specifications for tool installation.
Review vendor submittals and design deliverables to ensure compliance with client requirements and applicable codes.
Collaborate closely with facilities, construction, vendors, and internal project teams to ensure successful execution.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an associated degree in mechanical or chemical from an ABET accredited university.
5+ years of experience in engineering design of industrial control systems.
Strong knowledge of International Fire Code (IFC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), UL, and IEEE standards.
Experience selecting and specifying electrical and controls equipment and systems.
Proven ability to review vendor submittal against contractual and technical requirements.
Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary environments.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
2+ years of experience with semiconductor manufacturing tools (design, installation or cleanroom use).
Field experience working directly with subcontractors and construction personnel.
Familiarity with BIM/CAD tools such as Revit or AutoCAD.
A forward-thinking mindset with desire to learn, innovate, and continuously improve.
Additional Details:
This is a primarily remote role. The successful candidate will need to work onsite approximately 50% of the first month, then one week onsite per month thereafter.
Field work requires mobility, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, and working in active construction environments.
Must pass background check and drug screening.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available).
