Aventure Staffing Purchasing Manager in Laurens, Iowa

Purchasing Manager

$ 100k/yr + DOE

Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 5:00pm

Are you a purchasing professional ready to take the next step in your career? Our client is looking for a Purchasing Manager to oversee all procurement activities, develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, ensure cost-effective purchasing, and the time delivery of quality materials and components. The Purchasing Manager supervises a small team of buyers and works closely with production, engineering, and quality departments to support operational needs and customer demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of buyers, setting clear goals and ensuring accountability.

  • Assign purchasing activities, monitor workloads, and provide training/development.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

  • Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services needed for hydraulic cylinder production.

  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost savings and favorable agreements.

  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain vendor relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and timely delivery.

  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance, making recommendations for changes as needed.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering to forecast material needs and avoid shortages or excess inventory.

  • Ensure purchased materials meet specifications, quality standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Resolve supplier issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing in a timely manner.

  • Work with accounting on purchase orders, invoicing accuracy, and cost tracking.

  • Implement purchasing best practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Track KPIs related to supplier performance, cost savings, and inventory levels.

  • Provide regular reporting to management on purchasing activities, cost reduction efforts, and supply chain risks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of purchasing or supply chain experience, preferably in a manufacturing or machining environment.

  • 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience managing buyers or purchasing staff.

Benefits & Pay:
