Army National Guard Units PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in Latham, New York

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2479000 and is part of the J2, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Responsibilities As a Personnel Security Specialist (GS-0080-09), the primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Personnel Security Specialist, responsible for assisting in the personnel security clearances process and supporting an Administrator/Adjudicator with suitability adjudications /determinations for the fitness and suitability on individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions required by Army. Additional, this position will review personnel security background investigations and other source documents that determine suitability, fitness, for federal employment, and other credentialing decisions. Ensures investigative scoping items are met, personal identifying data and investigative questionnaire information is accurate and complete. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: ENLISTED ONLY GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year equivalent to the next lower grade with experience being responsible for assisting in the personnel security clearances process and supporting an Administrator/Adjudicator with suitability adjudications /determinations for the fitness and suitability on individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions required by Army. Additional, this position will review personnel security background investigations and other source documents that determine suitability, fitness, for federal employment, and other credentialing decisions. Education If you are using Education to qualify for this position, master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related You must provide Official Transcripts as documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. Additional Information If you are a male applicant who was born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency (Register | Selective Service System : Selective Service System (sss.gov)). This position is indefinite without the potential to convert to permanent. Employees hired under indefinite appointments may not exceed 5 years (consecutive) time with the agency. The applicant selected may be released at any time subject to a 30-day notice and advised of his/her rights and benefits to which entitled. If a permanent employee accepts this indefinite position, their tenure will change from permanent to indefinite. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
