Job Title: Mine Surveyor

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mine Surveyor to support daily mining operations through accurate layout, data management, and field surveying. This role is critical to ensuring safe and efficient production by providing precise survey control, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with engineering and operations teams. Candidates with mining or heavy civil construction surveying experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform survey functions in support of mine operations and project scope

  • Conduct daily field staking and layout in accordance with mine plans and designs

  • Complete quantity takeoffs, volume calculations, and material tracking

  • Communicate layout and survey data clearly to operators, supervisors, and site personnel

  • Troubleshoot survey layouts and machine control data to ensure accuracy and consistency

  • Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair survey equipment

  • Coordinate with mine engineers and design teams regarding plans, updates, and changes

  • Ensure all survey work meets project specifications and quality standards

  • Operate and communicate via 2-way radio

  • Maintain accurate survey records and documentation

    Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements

  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) as required

  • Maintain strong situational awareness of heavy equipment, personnel, and site hazards

  • Support and promote a strong safety culture on site

    Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of surveying experience (mining or construction)

  • Extensive GPS construction layout experience using Trimble or Topcon equipment

  • Experience with machine control systems preferred

  • High School Diploma required

  • Post-secondary education in surveying or related field (technical school preferred)

  • Ability to read and interpret mine plans, engineering drawings, and specifications

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Outdoor mining environment with exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and varying weather conditions

  • Ability to safely and repetitively lift up to 50 lbs

  • Physically demanding role requiring standing, walking, and climbing

  • Flexibility to assist with general labor duties as needed
