WSP USA On Call Archaeological Field Technician in Las Vegas, Nevada
This Opportunity
WSP USA Inc., one of the nation’s strongest energy-related engineering and environmental consultants, is seeking 10 to 15 Archaeological Field Technicians for fieldwork on multiple archaeological field projects in Nevada, Oregon, and Utah. These are On-Call hourly positions on a project basis; however, work is imminent. Pay will be determined by education and experience. Single occupancy hotel rooms and per diem are standard. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to perform Class III archaeological survey work in the Western U.S. Projects may involve extended periods of fieldwork in remote areas. Additional work/tasks may arise providing additional work opportunities.
Your Impact
Provide technical support using a basic understanding of anthropological and archaeological field techniques for locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating archaeological sites.
Support field surveys through pedestrian surveys and shovel test surveys.
Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, and ESRI Arc Field Maps GPS data collection software to conduct survey work.
Work long hours in difficult or remote environments and in varying weather conditions.
Collaborate effectively with groups composed of diverse personalities.
Maintain a positive attitude, accept direction, and work independently when needed.
Plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline
3 - 5+ years of archaeological field experience
Previous CRM field experience or academic archaeological field school
Knowledge and understanding of equipment, technology, and paperwork used in the recording and documenting of archeological sites and artifacts.
Ability to learn about local cultural history and material culture in project areas.
Ability to work independently, and to fully plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
Knowledge of health and safety standards
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work long hours in harsh environments and in varying weather conditions.
Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with team members
Ability to pass a drug test and maintain a drug-free work environment
Must pass background check and successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in utility transmission, pipeline, and petrochemical exploration projects is highly preferred.
Experience with both block and linear surveys is highly preferred
CPR/First Aid certifications and experience
Archaeological monitoring experience

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $25.00 - $38.00 per hour.
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
