Job Summary
The Associate Vice President for Student Engagement and Dean of Students, under general direction of the Vice President for Student Engagement, assists with divisional leadership and strategic initiatives and leads divisional planning efforts to ensure programs and services align with institutional priorities and evolving student needs. The position supports the Vice President by providing operational oversight of assigned student support functions and implementing initiatives that promote student well-being, success, and compliance with university priorities and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leads divisional planning efforts and ensures programs and services align with institutional priorities and evolving student needs.
Provides administrative oversight for assigned offices within the Division, including Student Health Services, Student Counseling Services, Disability Services for Students and the Office of Student Affairs, overseeing the development of their goals, budgets, resource allocation, program assessment, and associated policies and procedures.
Monitors financial performance and ensures expenditures remain within approved budgets.
Assists in development and implementation of special projects including initiatives related to student well-being, transfer student success, and other priorities that promote student achievement.
Coordinates division wide data collection to effectively assess Student Engagement offices and programs and to enhance compliance reporting.
Oversees and participates in the Behavioral Assessment Intervention Team (BAIT), supporting effective operations, institutional risk mitigation, alignment with university policy and providing guidance on complex cases.
Assumes additional supervisory and management responsibilities in the Vice President’s absence.
Represents the Vice President, Division, and University internally and externally.
Supports and implements efforts to enhance understanding of Federal and State mandates.

Additional Responsibilities
- Coordinates with deans, department chairs, and faculty on student-related concerns and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Development or related field.
Experience – Five years of related experience in student affairs.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience advancing student well-being initiatives, including mental health, health promotion, and responding to student crisis, as well as supporting student intervention teams.
Demonstrated professional presence, discretion and sound judgment in complex and sensitive matters.
Advanced knowledge of federal and state laws relevant to higher education, with related academic preparation or a degree in compliance, legal studies, or a related field.
Experience managing or assisting with budgets, financial monitoring, and resource allocation in a complex organizational environment.
Experience supporting transfer, commuter, or non-traditional student populations.
Experience leading or supporting career readiness initiatives and student professional development efforts.
Experience across varied institutions of higher education with demonstrated ability to incorporate broader best practices.
Knowledge and Abilities
