Reports to: Reimbursement Manager
*Work Location: *Lansing, MI
*Work Schedule: *Monday -- Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, 40 hours per week.
Compensation: $26.97/hr. plus comprehensive benefits package including 100% employer paid pension, generous time off and 14 paid holidays.
General Responsibilities:
Oversees and coordinates Tri-County Office on Aging's (TCOA's) State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) as well as the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) program. Provides information regarding Medicare, Medicaid, supplemental health insurance, long-term care insurance, and Person-Centered Options Counseling (PCOC). Provides consumers and their families with tools they need to make informed person-centered decisions that enhance consumer independence and wellbeing. Assess consumer needs and provide information regarding services available at TCOA and within the community. Recruit, train, and supervise TCOA SHIP staff and volunteers across Ingham, Clinton, Eaton, and Shiawassee Counties ensuring sufficient staff and volunteer pool to meet program needs.

- Effectively execute Michigan Department Health Human Services (MDHHS) MI Options Program contract.
- Provide consumers with information about Medicare, Medicaid, and PCOC. Topics include eligibility, enrollment, covered services, prescription drug assistance, Medicare fraud/abuse and the appeals process.
- Advocate on behalf of consumers. Help consumers establish, restore, or secure eligibility for public and private health benefits.
- Supervise, recruit, and train SHIP staff and volunteers to meet program demands and ensure competency to provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive Medicare/Medicaid education as well as promote TCOA programs including PCOC services
- Responsible for achieving outreach goals as outlined in the MI Options Program contract. Develop and deliver educational content focused on Medicare-related topics, including Medicare coverage, fraud prevention, and coordination with secondary insurance and Medicaid. Conduct outreach efforts by engaging with businesses, partner agencies, civic organizations, retirement centers, and other community groups.
- Responsible for tracking MI Options Program's performance benchmarks. Strategize and implement initiatives to enhance program performance.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing state and federal systems, reporting tools, and secure platforms relevant to program operations, such as EGrAMS, CHAMPS, SHIP TA Center, STARS, Medicare.gov, SSA.gov, and various MDHHS, law enforcement, and resource databases.
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute information, reports, graphs, charts, and other data as needed.
- Make recommendations for employment, termination, corrective actions and conduct annual performance appraisals to maintain Agency standards.
