City Of Lansing Manager of Leisure Services in Lansing, Michigan
The City of Lansing is seeking an energetic, organized, and community-minded Manager of Leisure Services to lead our recreational programming.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The City of Lansing reserves the right to utilize equivalencies where deemed appropriate with regard to education and experience requirements.
-Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation with an emphasis in Recreation Planning or Recreation Program Management
-Six (6) years of experience in managing a diverse recreation program of which three (3) years must have been in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
-Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
-Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) is preferred.

Plans and directs the management and implementation of the leisure time and recreation programs for the City.
Administers the division budget and develops a financial reporting system for control of expenditures.
Directs the recruitment, selection, assignment and evaluation procedures for full-time personnel and approves the selection of contract employees within the division.
Motivates and provides for in-service training of employees.
Develops and implements special event programs utilizing a combination of public and private resources.
Reviews and answers union grievances, attends appeal board and arbitration hearings and verifies contract interpretations.
Maintains systematic, complete and accurate records of the division's services and activities.
Investigates public complaints regarding the operation of recreation facilities.
Establishes a working relationship with community advisory boards.
Directs the promotion of activities through the appropriate media.
Works with law enforcement personnel to provide for building security and policy enforcement.
Travels to and from work sites.
Field inspections of programs in process involving both indoor and outdoor facilities.
Evening and weekend work may be required
