The Opportunity: Digital Print Operator
As a Digital Print Operator, you will prepare, produce, and manage printing orders on the HP Indigo digital press to meet the needs of external customers, internal converting teams, and internal rewind/inspection departments. You will ensure accurate color reproduction, maintain high-quality output, communicate effectively across departments, and perform preventative and routine equipment maintenance. This role is essential for meeting production goals, supporting customer expectations, and maintaining efficient digital press operations.
How You Will Impact Smurfit WestRock
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and produce print orders on the Indigo digital press according to job specifications.
Ensure printed color matches the intended color; make necessary press adjustments or communicate required changes to Prepress.
Review multiple proofing options and compare them to Indigo output for accuracy.
Troubleshoot complex or challenging printing jobs.
Collaborate with die-cutters, prepress, rewinders, folder\u2011gluers, and planners to maintain workflow accuracy.
Follow the published production schedule and meet production deadlines.
Maintain equipment and keep the department clean and organized.
Complete all required paperwork and documentation for each job.
Move stock and substrates to and from the press; lift and maneuver materials up to 75 lbs.
Log Indigo impression meter counts at the beginning and end of each shift.
Contact HP technical support when needed.
Apply coatings to printed products as required.
Work safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned to support digital press operations.
What You Need to Succeed
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to read and interpret ruler measurements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Willingness to work overtime as required.
Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
