Smurfit Westrock Carton Press Apprentice- 3rd shift in Lansing, Michigan
The Opportunity
As a Press Assistant, you will support a team of press operators to ensure fast, accurate make\u2011readies for multicolor flexographic printing presses. In this role, you will assist with press setup, repair, and maintenance while helping maintain efficient workflow and high\u2011quality production. You will also contribute to creating a clean, safe, and organized press environment.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock
Review job tickets and select the correct type and quantity of materials for production.
Assist with material changeovers and ensure all materials are properly organized for upcoming press runs.
Clean and maintain press equipment and general common areas.
Move printed and unprinted stock as needed to support production flow.
Assist press operators with preventative maintenance tasks on the press.
Follow established standard operating procedures for all daily tasks.
Accurately complete required documentation.
Assemble print cylinders and gears for production setup.
Perform line clearance procedures and verify completion before new jobs begin.
Remove waste from the press area and maintain a clean workspace.
Work safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Ability to read and understand ruler measurements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Ability to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
