In-person teaching is required for this position; there are no remote work opportunities.

Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.

Adjunct (part-time) faculty in this position teach courses primarily in the clinical setting at all levels of Nursing training. Nursing adjunct faculty can also teach in labs, simulation labs, and some didactic courses. Depending upon program needs and the candidate's qualifications, teaching assignments will be predominantly at clinical sites with the possibility of assignments at the Downtown Lansing campus. In-person teaching is required for this position; there are no remote work opportunities.

Clinical adjunct faculty encourage, collaborate, support, correct, stimulate, and challenge students to think critically in helping students plan for their patients' optimal wellness, recovery, and rehabilitation. Faculty need to discuss assignments with unit managers and staff nurses as well as maintain ongoing verbal and written recording and reporting with them. Adjunct faculty are expected to work collaboratively with instructor(s) of record, department coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi and accreditation standards. Duties include preparation of course materials, delivery of instruction to students (in the clinical and lab setting), assessment and grading, and assisting students outside of class. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as needed.

Part-time Teaching Faculty Assignments/Workload

Teaching Load Limits. Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, each part-time Teaching Faculty member shall be accountable for teaching workload subject to the following limits:
