DESCRIPTION

About the Position

Lane County’s Community Justice and Rehabilitation Services (CJRS) is seeking a Bilingual Office Assistant to help support the daily operations of the Parole & Probation Division. This role is an important part of the team that helps keep our community safe while ensuring individuals navigating the justice system receive clear information, respectful service, and access to the resources they need.

As the first point of contact for many visitors to the Parole & Probation office, the Bilingual Office Assistant provides welcoming and professional front-desk support to clients, community members, partner agencies, and staff. This position helps ensure that information is communicated clearly—particularly for individuals who speak Spanish or have limited English proficiency—so that everyone can understand expectations, services, and next steps.

In this role, you will support a busy public-facing office by performing a variety of administrative and clerical functions including records management, data entry, document processing, and reception services. You will also assist individuals reporting to meet with their Parole & Probation officers and help maintain accurate records within multiple law-enforcement databases.

This is a fast-paced environment where professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment are essential. The work often involves interacting with individuals experiencing challenging circumstances, and the ability to remain calm, respectful, and solution-focused is critical.

This position offers the opportunity to use your bilingual skills to help bridge communication gaps and support equitable access to services, while contributing to a team dedicated to accountability, rehabilitation, and community safety.

The position is located at the Lane County Parole & Probation Office (2699 Roosevelt Blvd., Eugene).

Incumbent responsibilities include: reception window greeting/assisting clientele who are reporting to meet with Parole & Probation officers, continuous law enforcement related / technical data entry, and document processing.

Class Summary:

To perform technical clerical and records work in the Parole & Probation division of Community Justice & Rehabilitation Services, on behalf of the Department of Corrections, and to perform related duties as assigned. To perform a wide variety of typing, data entry, office support, general clerical, and public contact work; and to perform related duties as assigned. The job function has considerable impact within the department, with the scope of responsibility being significant and complex.

Class Characteristics:

Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction assistance as new employees or as unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Employees in this classification series may have a high degree of public contact, often interacting with hostile or irate individuals. Employees in this classification require certifications related to various databases and are aware of the level of liability that is accepted when certified.

About the Division

The mission of Community Justice and Rehabilitation Services (CJRS) is to contribute to public safety by reducing risk, creating opportunities, and working to make positive changes in lives directly affecting the impact to the community, victims and offenders by holding justice involved youth and adults appropriately accountable for their behavior.
