Direct Wire & Cable Inc. is hiring a *Upcast Operator Assistant *based out of our Lancaster facility. This hands-on role supports continuous casting operations in the Upcasting Work Center, including material handling, inventory control, and equipment support. The Assistant works closely with the Upcast Operator and provides coverage when needed to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient production.
We're looking for a reliable team player with manufacturing experience and a strong work ethic. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Flexibility for night shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.

Responsibilities
- Supply raw materials and remove finished coils for storage or shipment
- Perform material transactions in Syspro/Ritescan, including scrap and inventory updates
- Strap, stretch-wrap, and load copper coils using a forklift
- Assist with machine lockouts, tag outs, and routine maintenance
- Inspect incoming materials, consumables, and tools for quality and readiness
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Provide coverage for the Upcast Operator and support continuous casting operations
- Promote Direct Wire's core values and maintain a high-morale team culture
Requirements
- High school diploma required, post high school training preferred
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to work in noisy, dusty, indoor/outdoor environments
- Flexibility for night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Experience with casting or downstream processing preferred
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Valid driver's license required
Shift & Location
- Schedule: 2nd Shift -- Wednesday through Friday, and every other Saturday, 7:00 PM -- 7:00 AM (overtime based on business need)
- Our Upcasting facility operates 24/7/365, requiring flexibility for night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Work Location: On-site, Lancaster, PA
