The Employee Relations Specialist supports a positive and compliant workplace by managing employee relations matters, investigations, and HR processes. Key Responsibilities for the Employee Relations Specialist include:
Employee Relations
Serve as primary contact for employee relations concerns, ensuring professionalism and confidentiality
Investigate and resolve workplace issues including performance, conduct, and conflict
Partner with HR leadership to conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions
Maintain accurate documentation and identify trends or risk areas
Compliance, Benefits & Support
Support leave of absence processes including FMLA, ADA, and disability accommodations
Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries
Coordinate workers' compensation claims and communication with all parties
Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies
Training & HR Operations
Support delivery of HR-related training and policy communication
Maintain HRIS records and generate reports for leadership
Partner with payroll and finance to ensure accurate processing and adjustments
Assist with audits, reporting, and process improvements
Offboarding & Accountability
Support disciplinary actions and termination processes with proper documentation
Conduct exit interviews and assist with offboarding procedures
Provide guidance to managers on performance and employee relations matters
Local travel as needed for employee meetings and investigations
Qualifications for the Employee Relations Specialist include:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
2 - 4+ years of experience in employee relations or HR generalist role REQUIRED
Strong knowledge of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.)
Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (ADP preferred)
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
High level of discretion and professionalism
