Machinist Responsibilities
- Set up machines to start a production cycle, control and adjust settings, and test operation periodically.
- Provides set-up sheets and routings, including calculation of standard times for manufacturing or cost-reduction.
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products and maintain activity logs.
- Set up equipment to produce parts to match prints, including machining of complex profiles, milling, and horizontal and vertical drilling.
- Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
- Utilize CAD and CAM programs to program machine paths and tools at a PC, or at the machine and send machine code to equipment using post processors.
Machinist Qualifications
- Comprehension of CAD/CAM programs
- Ability to program CNC equipment and read blueprints and manuals
- Attention to detail
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Knowledge of high-speed machines and measuring tools
