Koniag Government Services General Maintenance Worker I in Lame Deer, Montana
Koniag Advisory and Business Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company , is seeking a General Maintenance Worker I to support KABS and our government customer in Lame Deer, MT.

The General Maintenance Worker provides the maintenance, upkeep, and minor renovation services necessary to ensure living quarters remain safe, functional, clean, and habitable. This position supports the Northern Cheyenne Service Unit by performing a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks involving building interiors, exteriors, equipment, fixtures, and related systems. The worker is expected to complete assigned duties in a timely, safe, and professional manner consistent with Indian Health Service (IHS) policies, procedures, and accepted maintenance practices.
The position will be located at 420 North Cheyenne Avenue, Lame Deer, MT. Report hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This position starts May 16, 2026
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and repair of residential living quarters and related facilities.
Conduct general upkeep of buildings, rooms, common areas, and surrounding grounds as assigned.
Complete minor renovation work, including basic carpentry, painting, patching, flooring repair, and fixture replacement.
Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs within the scope of general maintenance duties.
Inspect living quarters and report maintenance deficiencies, safety concerns, and repair needs.
Ensure assigned work areas remain safe, orderly, and compliant with applicable standards.
Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment in a safe and proper manner.
Assist with preventive maintenance tasks to reduce breakdowns and prolong the life of building systems and equipment.
Respond to maintenance requests and work orders promptly and professionally.
Maintain records of completed work, supplies used, and maintenance issues as required.
Coordinate with supervisors and other staff to ensure effective tour of duty coverage and timely completion of assigned tasks.
Follow all IHS policies, safety procedures, infection control requirements, and accepted professional practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one (1) year of general maintenance experience.
Ability to perform a variety of repair and upkeep duties involving residential or commercial facilities.
Working knowledge of basic maintenance methods, tools, materials, and safety practices.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently on assigned tasks.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and materials as required by the job.
Supervision:
The Department Supervisor, or other designee, sets overall maintenance objectives and specifies available resources.
The Department Supervisor, or other designee, monitors tour of duty coverage and may periodically review work performance to ensure conformance with IHS policy, procedures, and accepted professional practice.
Work Environment:
This position requires hands-on work in and around residential living quarters and related service unit facilities.
Duties may involve standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
