Instructional Assistant (Paraprofessional)Location:** New Jersey Schedule: Full-Time | Non-ExemptThe Center for Educational Advancement (CEA) is seeking a dependable and patient Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities in a classroom and community learning environment. This role works closely with teachers to help students participate in instruction, build independence, and develop the skills needed for long-term success.This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, calm under pressure, and genuinely committed to helping students grow.Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and classroom activities- Support students in completing assignments and participating in learning activities- Encourage independence while providing structured guidance when needed- Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunch, and community-based learning experiences- Assist students in developing daily living, social, and self-advocacy skills- Support students during internships, job sampling, and other vocational learning opportunities- Follow established behavioral supports and classroom expectations- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress with school staffWhat We’re Looking ForSuccessful candidates are:- Dependable and professional with strong attendance- Patient and comfortable working with students who require extra support- Able to follow direction while also using sound judgment- Organized and able to complete documentation accurately and on time- Respectful of confidentiality and student privacyQualifications- High school diploma or GED required- Two years of related experience preferred (education, youth programs, or similar)- Must be 18 years of age or older- Ability to pass required background checksPhysical RequirementsThis position involves being active throughout the school day and may include standing, walking, bending, and assisting students with mobility or physical support when needed.------------------------------------------------------------------------How to Apply To apply, please submit your resume and include a brief paragraph explaining why you are interested in supporting students with disabilities in an educational setting.
