Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
The Mechanical Assembler builds and assembles heavy construction, crushing, and mining machinery using hand and power tools in an indoor/outdoor overhead bay environment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, precise measurement skills, and the ability to read and follow assembly manuals, schematics, and blueprints while working collaboratively within a team-oriented assembly department.
Responsibilities
Assemble components of heavy construction, crushing, and mining equipment using hand and power tools.
Read and interpret assembly manuals, work instructions, schematics, and blueprints to complete assembly tasks accurately.
Use measuring tools, especially tape measures, to verify dimensions and ensure components meet required specifications.
Follow established assembly procedures and production standards to maintain quality and consistency.
Operate within an overhead indoor/outdoor bay environment, working safely around overhead cranes and large components.
Collaborate with team members in the assembly department to coordinate tasks and complete projects efficiently.
Perform basic mechanical tasks such as fitting, fastening, and aligning parts using sockets, ratchets, and impact drills.
Assist with electrical and wiring tasks as needed during the assembly process.
Inspect assembled components for defects or misalignments and make necessary adjustments.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment responsibly.
Adhere to all safety guidelines while working with hand tools, power tools, and overhead lifting equipment.
Essential Skills
Proficiency using hand and power tools, including impact drills, sockets, and ratchets.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure and other measuring tools.
Experience with mechanical assembly in a production or assembly line environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic mechanical principles.
Capability to follow detailed procedures and assembly manuals.
Comfort working in an indoor/outdoor overhead bay environment.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in an assembly department.
Willingness and ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
Ownership and use of a basic personal tool set suitable for mechanical assembly work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with electrical and wiring tasks in an assembly setting.
Familiarity with overhead crane operations and large component handling.
Previous experience assembling heavy machinery or industrial equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment
The role is based in an indoor/outdoor overhead bay where large components of construction, crushing, and mining machinery are assembled. Overhead cranes move heavy parts, and team members regularly use hand and power tools throughout the day. The environment is non-climate-controlled, so conditions vary with the weather. Work hours run from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, supporting a consistent daytime schedule. The setting emphasizes safety, collaboration, and hands-on mechanical work with heavy industrial equipment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
