TEKsystems Receptionist in Lake Zurich, Illinois
Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact at our corporate headquarters. This role is responsible for managing front desk operations, welcoming visitors, and providing administrative and customer service support. As the customer service department continues to grow, this position has the potential to transition into a full-time customer service role. Candidates must be open to that future opportunity.
Key ResponsibilitiesFront Desk & Communication
Greet visitors, customers, and guests in a friendly and professional manner
Answer and direct incoming phone calls promptly and courteously
Manage front desk activities including mail, packages, and general inquiries
Customer Service Support
Assist the Customer Service team with reports, data entry, and order follow-ups
Enter shipment status and tracking information into customer-specific portals
Monitor and support EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) transactions
Provide proactive order and shipment updates to customers via email or phone
Follow up on orders on hold and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues
Maintain organized documentation of customer interactions and transactions
Act as backup support for inbound calls and order entry during high-volume periods or team PTO
Administrative Support
Assist with various general administrative duties as needed
Collaborate with warehouse, sales, and manufacturing teams to support order fulfillment
Required Qualifications (Must Haves)
1+ year of front desk or receptionist experience
1+ year of office-based customer service experience
(Manufacturing environment experience preferred)
High School Diploma or GED
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)
Experience with ERP systems
Previous order entry experience
Strong data entry skills
Soft Skills
Highly detail-oriented
Strong multitasking ability
Self-motivated and comfortable staying busy during slower periods
Professional, approachable, and customer-focused demeanor
Work Environment
Clean, organized office and warehouse setting
Approximately 40-person office staff at corporate headquarters

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Zurich, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
