Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY :

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, the Lead is responsible for safely and efficiently directing the shift personnel, in addition to the essential job functions of the warehouse. These essential job functions include picking, loading, receiving, inventory put-away, and/or other duties assigned per the shift supervisor.

This position will assume the responsibilities of the shift supervisor in the absence of the shift supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

  2. Assist in training of all personnel assigned in the department. Assist supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted, or new procedures are implemented. Become an expert resource for all duties related to the shift and provide training when necessary.

  3. Assigns work tasks to department personnel.

  4. Assist with Safety audits.

  5. Join and be a member of an SRMP team.

  6. Lead the shift personnel in essential warehouse job functions.

  7. Ensure that employees are working and operating equipment safely.

  8. Demonstrate leadership qualities such as good attendance, dependability, good work ethic, and a positive attitude.

  9. Act as the primary back-up to the shift supervisor

  10. Effectively communicate relevant information to fellow employees on the shift and to first shift lead/supervisor during shift change.

  11. Always ensure regulatory compliance.

  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Must be at least 18-years of age.

Must pass a forklift driving test and safely operate a variety of forklifts and pallet jacks.

Must be able to work in constant temperatures of 30-40- degrees and occasional temperatures of zero degrees.

Must be able to lift/carry up to 55 pounds repeatedly.

Experience with MS Office preferred, specifically: Outlook, Word & Excel

Comprehend, delegate & manage tasks provided by management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Maintain good working relationship with all warehouse personnel, drivers, and office staff.

  2. Inform Warehouse Manager/Supervisor of any safety concerns, equipment issues, injuries or any other pertinent issues as soon as they arise.

  3. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, such as hard hats and steel toed safety shoes, as necessary.

  4. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

  5. Must be willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested by Warehouse Manager.

  6. Working well in a team setting, working efficiently, being customer service oriented and being safety conscious are essential requirements.

  7. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR training.

  8. Must be able to train new employees.

  9. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
