This position serves as an Engineer in the Lafayette Regional Office (LRO), Operations Division of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA).

The incumbent performs advanced and responsible engineering work in implementing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Construction Administration for CPRA's overall coastal restoration and hurricane flood risk reduction program.

Minimum Qualifications

Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.

NOTE:

This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificates are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Leads and coordinates implementation of CPRA coastal restoration and flood protection projects in collaboration with federal, state, and local partners.

  • Serves as a senior technical expert within the Regional Office, providing leadership in the design, construction, and operations & maintenance (O&M) of large, complex, and high-profile projects.

  • Develops scopes of work for engineering, surveying, professional services, and O&M activities.

  • Reviews proposals, design reports, plans, specifications, and opinions of probable costs for professional services and construction.

  • Administers and oversees consultant and construction contracts, including field/site visits and construction administration for major projects.

  • Prepares and monitors project budgets, including task budgets, annual operating budgets, 20-year O&M budgets, and cost-share agreements.

  • Prepares and delivers project status reports, funding adjustment requests, and presentations to Task Force/Trustee Implementation Group meetings and other stakeholders.

  • Provides technical advisory support to freshwater, levee, parish drainage, and watershed districts, representing CPRA at board meetings as needed.

  • Conducts site inspections, hurricane damage assessments, and periodic evaluations of levees, floodwalls, and related infrastructure; prepares associated reports and O&M recommendations.

  • Maintains project documentation and drafts formal correspondence with private owners, consultants, and local, state, and federal agencies.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, Engineer Intern 2, Engineer 3, Engineer 4, or Engineer 5 depending on level of experience.

Compensation: The maximum salary for the Engineer 5 is $126,256 annually.

There are special bi-weekly entrance rates established for this position:

Engineer Intern 1 $2,115.20

Engineer Intern 2 $2,263.20

Engineer 3 $2,671.20

Engineer 4 $2,952.00

Engineer 5 $3,158.40
