Job Title: Manual Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to machine parts for rotating equipment such as pumps, shafts, couplings, rings, cases, turbines, and valves. You will be operating manual mills and lathes, primarily working with steel and stainless steel.

Responsibilities

  • Machine parts to precise specifications with tolerances down to 0.0005 inches.

  • Operate manual lathes and mills efficiently and effectively.

  • Utilize horizontal boring mills and vertical turret lathes.

  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate machining.

  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.

  • Perform grinding and drill press operations as needed.

Essential Skills

  • 4+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist.

  • Proficient in manual machining with mills and lathes.

  • Strong ability to work with steel and stainless steel materials.

  • Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • VTL and HBM skills are highly desirable.

  • Experience in a shop environment with a focus on precision and quality.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled indoor shop with schedules from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM Monday through Thursday.

Friday work is typically at 60%, with Saturday at 30%, and Sunday work reserved for emergencies with double-time pay.

Enjoy 8 holidays and 2 floating holidays, along with a 4% match on 401(k) contributions. A 10% differential applies for PM shifts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, LA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.50/hr.
