Special Education Teacher – Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe
Location: La Quinta, CA
Duration: 2-Month Contract
Start Date: April 13, 2026
Schedule: Full-Time | 37.5 hours per week
Setting: On-site, School-Based
Pay Rates (Local Candidates Only)
Moderate/Severe Special Education Teacher: $65/hour
Weekly Pay: $2,437.50
Overtime: 1.5× hourly rate
Mild/Moderate Special Education Teacher: $60/hour
Weekly Pay: $2,250
Overtime: 1.5× hourly rate
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides quality instructional services to special education students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 . The role requires collaboration, individualized planning, and effective implementation of IEPs to support student success.
The Special Education Teacher works closely with multidisciplinary teams and general education staff to deliver specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultative support.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized instruction aligned with IEP goals
Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
Participate in IEP meetings, planning, and implementation
Deliver academic, behavioral, and instructional interventions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Complete documentation and timekeeping using MaxView Timeclock
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
Valid state teaching certification per California and district requirements
Minimum of one year of teaching or classroom experience (preferred)
State Teacher Certification, including:
Standard Special Education Teaching (preferred)
Standard Elementary or Secondary Teaching
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred
Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
Health certificate and TB clearance as required
CPR certification if applicable
Must be at least 18 years of age

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
