Aerotek Machinist in LA PORTE, Indiana

Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

This position involves working as a machinist in a manufacturing company, primarily supporting the assembly team by creating essential parts such as rotors needed for building drills. The role requires operating various lathes and performing setups for production.

Responsibilities

  • Create parts needed by the assembly team, primarily focusing on rotors.

  • Operate a highly productive Mazak lathe and transfer parts to other lathes with lower production levels.

  • Set up machines and perform minor program edits using G code or similar controls.

  • Run production batches ranging from 6-12 parts to over 100, with some orders taking up to two days to complete.

  • Ensure precision by maintaining a tolerance of +/- .002.

  • Utilize personal quality tools such as micrometers and calipers.

  • Perform basic math operations involving decimals and fractions.

  • Occasionally use a Bridgeport for additional machining tasks.

  • Operate a forklift to move materials as needed.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience machining on mills or lathes.

  • Setup experience with CNC machines.

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints.

  • Experience holding a tolerance of +/- .002 or better.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with manual lathe or mill operations.

  • Forklift, hoist, or similar equipment operation experience.

  • Programming experience is beneficial.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of LA PORTE, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
