Marathon Petroleum Corporation Senior Network Planning Analyst in La Palma, California

Position Summary:

The Network Planning Analyst (NPA) is responsible for gathering and analyzing industry, competitor, and internal business data. The position provides strategic analytical support in a project driven environment (i.e., evaluation of potential investment opportunities ranging from an individual site to a large acquisition) within the designated growth areas of ARCO, ampm, Shell, and Mobil to deliver an optimal retail network for Marathon.

Using gravity based and space interaction tools, the NPA is expected to analyze the impact of strategies and tactics prior to capital outlay – from a single site analysis to an entire network.Using demographic and Tesoro’s customer segmentation data, the NPA is required to identify key growth areas within a marketing area and recommend implementation of site tactics for capital investment. A poor recommendation can cost the company millions of dollars.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with management on both financial and marketing analysis, volume projections and performs discounted cash flow analysis for Retail Marketing's site growth investments including, but not limited to: New-to-Industry, Rebrands, Raze and Rebuilds, Forecourt or backcourt conversions and Renewals.

  • Assists with management on analysis of regional areas to selected sites and assists in determining most efficient usage for proposed site(s). This may be optimizing existing or expansion of the asset base. Maintains existing asset database for all ARCO retail locations.

  • Collects and provides information on competitive activity and regional knowledge for the designated areas; effectively communicates outlet and market share impacts.

  • Coordinates with the Franchise Recruiter on the delivery of their annual sales targets for signed agreements and new store openings. Periodically, participates in field rides to maintain knowledge of marketing areas.

  • Prepares reports, forecasts, and analysis necessary to manage the assigned growth areas and progress of business development activities.

  • Oversee the processing and funding of approved Capex spend related to new growth and retention. Annual budget of $40-$50MM.

  • Coordinates meetings with key internal and external stakeholders to present prospective tactics for growth and retention via Project Review and other meetings.

  • Assists in the analysis of the CO Rent model and execution of the Renewal submissions for management approval.

  • Assists in the annual budgeting process for growth, retention, and investment spend.

  • 10-15% Travel

This position grade may vary depending on candidate experience. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Seven (7) or more years of Real Estate, Network Planning, or Oil and Gas experience required.
