The Otero County Health Department is looking for a dedicated individual to lead our YEEHAW initiative's volunteer efforts. Position at a Glance
Pay Rate : $24.01 per hour
Schedule: Part-time (Estimated 16 hours per week)
Status: Grant-funded / Grant-dependent
Supervisor: Housing Navigator Program Director
Your Impact Zones
1. Talent Scout & Community Ambassador
- Develop and implement creative strategies to recruit a diverse volunteer base from schools, businesses, faith groups, and civic organizations.
- Represent OCHD at community events and volunteer fairs to champion engagement opportunities.
- Screen and interview potential volunteers to ensure the best fit for our mission.
2. Educator & Coach
- Facilitate high-impact orientations and program-specific training.
- Ensure every volunteer is grounded in the mission, values, and service expectations of the YEEHAW program.
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance to guarantee a positive and inclusive volunteer experience.
3. Operational Lead
- Coordinate volunteer teams for programs, special events, and initiatives.
- Maintain precise records of volunteer hours, certifications, and compliance within our management system.
- Collaborate with staff to align volunteer assignments with Otero County's top priorities.
4. Retention Architect
- Design and execute appreciation strategies, including newsletters, awards, and recognition events.
- Track and celebrate volunteer achievements to encourage long-term commitment.
What You Bring to the Table
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience: Preferred background in volunteer coordination, human services, or nonprofit program support.
- Skills: Exceptional relationship-building abilities and strong computer literacy in database programs.
- Spirit: A willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for community outreach.
- Requirements: A current Colorado driver's license and properly insured vehicle are mandatory.
