The City of La Junta is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Water Treatment Plant Operators to support the daily operations and maintenance of our water treatment facility. These positions play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations while maintaining high standards of water quality.
Essential duties are: maintains and operates plant equipment and processes related to water treatment systems; assists with inspection and maintenance of equipment and components in the operation of water treatment facility; performs work in accordance with all quality standards, safety regulations and procedures; knowledge of basic water treatment plant chemical protocols and uses, including making chemical feed adjustments, how to unload, store and use various chemicals; performs basic preventive maintenance tasks; installs, inspects and repairs of a variety of water treatment plant equipment and components; samples and analyzes various data; observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meters and gauge readings; reports operating anomalies to supervisor; assists technicians and maintenance workers in resolving operational problems; cleans and maintains plant work areas, tools and equipment; collects samples as directed; works safely at all times; arrives on time for scheduled shift.
Any combination of experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school
Certification by the State of Colorado as a Class D Water Operator within one (1) year of hire date; Continued certifications up to and including Class A Water Operator within 5 years of hire date; possession of a valid driver's license.
